Santa
Barbara Art Association is a non-profit organization of over
500 artists who exhibit their original
works in the
cooperative Gallery 113 and in the Faulkner Gallery at the
Santa Barbara Library. A cultural jewel in the heart of Santa
Barbara, the Art Association’s current members include
nationally and internationally recognized artists, as well
as emerging artists and local talent.
Founded in 1952, the association has been
the art organization of note in Santa Barbara, providing
exhibition opportunity for area fine art for over 50 years.
Past members have included such luminaries as Wright S. Ludington,
Douglas Parshall, Clarence Hinkle, and Joseph Knowles.
Membership into
the association is by jury. Once accepted, members may
submit work monthly to Gallery 113 and to juried exhibits
in the Faulkner Gallery. Artwork is for sale as well as
for rent, and shipping can be arranged. Members man the
galleries and contribute their time and talent to the organization.
A visit to the galleries will introduce you to the artists
as well as give you an overview of current work being produced
in Santa Barbara. Other venues, such as open air exhibits
and exhibits in area businesses and organizations also
provides an excellent opportunity to view the artwork of
our talented members.
The Santa Barbara Art Association
supports the community through the annual Ludington-Parshall
scholarship
for area art students, donations to the Library, public seminars
and lectures, as well as by organizing open shows and workshops
that can be attended by members and non-members alike. The
organization is supported by membership and the donations
of patrons, whose financial support is invaluable. |
